Depression - what can you do to beat it?
If you or a loved one are suffering from depression you have my sympathy. It's the disease that no-one can see or explain that's utterly miserable for those wrapped up in it.
Here's two self help resources which you may find useful in keeping your sanity:-

7 Steps to a Depression Free Life. This book by Nancy Miller, a sufferer herself, is very realistic about how you can learn to cope with the effects of depression. Having experienced for herself the debilitating effects of depression, Nancy doesn't spout platitudes and unrealistic expectations.
Instead she focuses on what you CAN do - looking at the root causes of anxiety and depression, what can make it last longer, how to handle friends and relatives, how you can improve your mood in a natural way, what herbs and vitamins may help lift and prevent depression, how your support team and journal can be essential tools to becoming free of depression.

Victory for the Silent Victim. If you're supporting someone suffering from depression, you'll know that the difficulties you faced are often not known or acknowledged. Just knowing that you're not alone can be a sanity saver - knowing how you can survive whilst supporting your depressed loved one can help you get you through the dark tunnel that you face (no, it's not just the depressed individual that's going through a difficult time).
