Enjoying Golf in Your Retirement
You've probably heard the old joke, "Old golfers don't retire, they just play a round"?
Jack Nicklaus said "Most people work all of their life to retire and play golf. It turns out that I played golf all my life to retire and work." Nicklaus is currently building golf courses in Croatia, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and Russia.
Legendary golfer, Arnold Palmer, said on his retirement at age 77, “I may stop playing now, start exercising and get in shape and see if I can't at least enjoy the simple golf that I always like to play.”
If your idea of a great retirement is playing your favorite game more often and on some more exhilarating courses,
Where to retire and play golf
Funnily enough, few people choose to retire and move to St Andrew's in Scotland for the great golfing.
More seem to choose places like Florida, southern Portugal,
However, according to a CNN survey, the place where most golf is played is Coconut Creek, Florida. Following hard on its heels is Palm Harbor and Palm Desert, California, followed swiftly by Lake Havasu City, Arizona and Woodbury, Minnesota. Of the other 20 on the list, three are in New York, three in Michigan, three more in Texas, four in Ohio, three in Pennsylvania, with others in Illinois and Alabama.
Though some of these are unlikely places, these are the places where the inhabitants played the most golf.
Kind of makes sense of the quote:- ""Baseball, basketball and football players play golf when they retire. Pro golfers don't play baseball, basketball and football when they retire. ..."
