Graduation Gifts

Choosing the right graduation gift is important, as it marks an important occasion in a student's life.

So, how do you give the kind of gifts that people appreciate and cherish?

I've read that "giving a gift, not a message" is so important - so instead of giving something practical such as a health club membership for a slightly overweight individual - give a gift that's just for their enjoyment or satisfaction with no hidden message.

Here's a few ideas for some creative and inventive gifts that students are sure to love:-

  • Graduation Chocolate Gift Baskets - what student wouldn't love a chocolate gift on their graduation?
  • Money!
  • Music or something to play music on

You can create unique gifts by having items engraved or personalized, for example, the traditional pewter tankard.  You may be surprised at what you can find on eBay - if you know that the recipient has a particular passion or interest - you can almost certainly get a gift tailored to that.

Why not visit eBay for gifts for law graduates, middle school, masters, phd, friends, boyfriend, for her, catholic students

FAQ

What is an appropriate money amount for college graduation gift?

Whilst there's an established monetary gift etiquette, it can end up with all the relatives trying to outdo each other. If you're worried about not being able to "compete", sending a simple, but thoughtful, gift with a handwritten note will surely be appreciated instead.

Teacher Gifts

Whether you're at elementary school or high school, when you're leaving you may wish to thank your teacher with a small gift.  In this case, don't go for large, showy presents - the ones that represent thought and time taken by the student are likely to be most appreciated.  If you wish, a small box of chocolates or bouquet of flowers will be a meaningful gift that will be appreciated.

Writing Thank You Notes for a Graduation Gift

It's important to take time to write a short note to say thank you for the gradution gift that you have received.  it's especially important if it's a gift of money that you've been sent in the mail, to ensure that the sender is reassured that it arrived safely with you.

So, what do you write?  It needn't be lengthy - just a few simple words to say thank you, a line or two about the day itself and a few words about what you're going to be doing next will be fine.  This is one time you don't need to write an essay!

You might like to include a humorous or educational quote (check them out at quotes-online.net)

Example of a thank you note for a graduation gift

This is some guidance if you're really stuck for what you should write:-

Dear Uncle Bob,

Thank you so much for the kind gift of $50 for my graduation.  We had a great day with everyone in great spirits.

I can't wait to see you again this Christmas.

With love,

Joe

As you can see it doesn't have to be long, but etiquette demands that it does have to be handwritten!
