Things to do when you retire
- retirement, hobbies & sport
So many people spend over forty years looking forward to the moment of their retirement, yet when the moment comes they can be surprisingly unprepared for it.
Maybe you've been too busy at work and those final few months have been hectic. Once all those retirement speeches have been made, you've said goodbye to your work colleagues and you find yourself starting the first day of the "whole of the rest of your life" - you'll want to consider just how you'll be spending your time, how the finances are going to work out and surprisingly, how you'll manage spending so much time with your spouse (if you have one).
Those who have planned for this moment often succeed in taking those long planned for cruises, others may be facing an unpleasant surprise as they find that their meagre pension is simply insufficient to fund their dreams.
Whilst you've probably seen those bumper stickers that read :-
"Spending My Kids Inheritance!"
"Live long enough to become a burden to your children"
"If things improve with age, I'm getting pretty near perfect"
"Be nice to your kids, they're gonna choose your retirement home !"
"It's not that I'm old, your music really does suck"
and
"I believe in life before death "
Did you know that it's been scientifically shown by research that focusing on wellness, enjoying recreational time with family and friends, and having a positive outlook on ageing can actually help you live better and for longer ?
